Introduction

In the summer of 2018 I embarked on a 4- week expedition to Sabah, Borneo in Malaysia. It was a volunteering expedition which had a scuba element to it as well. I went away 23 other people, 4 of which were teachers, 1 of them were our group leader Louisa. There were 20 students, 12 of which were from my school including me and the others were from all other parts of the country.

The volunteering included mostly cement mixing. We did do other things like tree chopping and planting, painting and teaching the local children which helped the local children. We mostly stayed in camp huts or wooden longhouses. they were not very stable and the floor was weak. The was just a mattress on the floor and mosquito net attached. In the Bornean rainforest we stayed in Hammocks which was tough.
